Education, Social Care and Health Group

The Education, Social Care and Health Group (ESCHG) is a multidisciplinary initiative sitting under the PANS PANDAS Steering Group, uniting families and professionals across education, health, and social care.

Co-chaired by a Designated Clinical Officer and the PANS PANDAS UK Education Lead, the group aims to develop guidance for local authorities to support children and young people living with PANS and PANDAS.

Following its inaugural meeting on May 23rd 2024, the group began identifying systemic barriers and professional development needs, informed by powerful lived experience testimonies. The ESCHG is committed to reducing disparities in awareness and support across local authorities, while aligning with the national consensus guideline development process.

A two-phase guidance approach is planned: interim recommendations to enhance current systems, followed by refined guidance post-publication of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) endorsed UK clinical guidelines. While initially focused on England, the group intends to explore similar opportunities across Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. In the meantime, all professionals are encouraged to access sector-specific resources via the PANS PANDAS UK website.
